Matthew J. Dowd and Chief Judge Paul R. Michel (ret.) published an op-ed in The Hill concerning the rising Chinese technology surge and the failing United States patent system. The op-ed highlighted the numerous legal changes that have allowed courts to invalidate too easily valuable patent rights and how the status quo discourages innovation. The op-ed finishes with a call upon Congress to allow elected officials, not political appointees, to start making decisions that improve patent law. Dowd Scheffel is honored, as always, to work with Chief Judge Michel on improving patent law in this country. The op-ed can be read here https://thehill.com/opinion/national-security/3890789-patents-spy-balloons-and-outcompeting-china-what-our-leaders-are-missing/
